1. Reboot Mac: Press the power button (or press Control +Eject) and, when a dialog box appears, click the Restart button.
2. Reset PRAM/NVRAM (and boot into Safe Mode): Settings that can be stored in NVRAM include sound volume, display resolution,
startup-disk selection, and time zone.
• Shut down your Mac.
• Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R.
• Turn on your Mac.
• Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys immediately after you hear the startup sound.
• Hold these keys until the computer
restarts and you hear the startup sound for a second time.
• Release the keys.
3. Reset SMC:
• Shut down the computer.
• Unplug the power cord.
• Wait fifteen seconds.
• Attach the power cord.
• Wait five seconds, and
then press the power button to turn on the computer.
4. Repair disk permissions:
• Open Disk Utility by tying “Disk Utility” in to Spotlight or navigating to /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
• Click on your boot disk in the left hand pane. If you didn’t rename the drive, it will be named “Macintosh HD.” On our system, the drive is named “Sierra.”
Note that we’re selecting the disk rather than the volume.
• Click on the “First Aid” icon.
• This will pop up a confirmation dialog. Click “Run” to start the disk repair process.
• Click the continue icon after you’ve read the warning message.
• During this process, your computer will be non-responsive. This is totally normally and expected.
The operating system has to lock you out of changing the drive contents for a few moments to correctly analyze its contents.
• When completed, you can click “Show Details” to see a report on the First Aid process.
5. Verify disk (and repair if necessary):
• Disk Utility Select Deviceclick on first aid
• This is checking the maps on the disk and each volume. Disk Utility will check the partition maps on the
disk and check each volume.
• If it finds a problem with the disk, Disk Utility will attempt to repair it.
• If Disk Utility tells you the disk or volume is about to fail, you should back it up and replace it.
Disk Utility will not be able to repair it.
6. Reset Safari and clear caches
7. Delete Caches folders
